La Jolla Cove

I was in my gallery cleaning my palette of leftover semi-hardened paint after a few days of a painting excursion to La Jolla, CA. when I realized that the very same pigment and color that I was so casually wiping into my paper towel would be nothing but buried within the trash. These same colors getting wiped off the palette and onto the paper towel were those I had used to create a beautiful painting on my canvas from the beach that lapped onto the shore in front of my eyes and easel. I thought of the philosophy behind “live with purpose.” When we have a purpose, we are constantly creating from whatever we have in our control; it can be my paint on the canvas or so many other amazing things for ourselves and our society. In my life, I feel I am a creator of my time here, not just with paint but with whatever is before me that I can find a purpose for bringing whatever it may be to center and attention of its beauty and functionality.
